Hi - Is there a way to create a doppler effect with vst plugs? I have a train whistle sound & wd like to pan & get the doppler effect. Thanks.

waves has a plug that does it i think. not sure how good it is as i have never used it.

Lol @ Moresound

The doppler effect being a pitch shift perceived when the source is moving (going down as the source goes away), did you try with a pitch shifter and automation ?

I've burned SFX to a CD and then used a DJ CD player with pitch control to simulate doppler...

Pan and pitch shifting automation is the answer.

Cheers :)

That'd be what I'd try. Automate the pan to move from one side to the other, probably using a logarithmic curve as opposed to a linear one (logarithmic is the one that starts off steep and gets shallower as it goes). Then automate the pitch down a few semitones during the steepest part of the pan.
