Dont know anything about recording..

heY guys.. new to this site.. hope to learn something.. Im simply new to recording.. never recorded anything on a pc besides using the reg computer mic.. which makes my vocals and accoustic sound horrible.. WHAT DO I NEED, TO RECORD VOCALS+GUITAR on a pc..? I have a dell p4 2.0 ghz nothign special.. But any tips or suggestions will be highly appreciated! thanks

a microphone
a cable
a preamp
a soundcard (sometimes with a preamp already on it)
a software program to record into
and speakers.

take a look at m-audio.com for a good start to picking up most of that stuff (or at least of items to buy...they don't sell direct)

Or just browse this forum.... You can change the settings at the bottom of the page to view posts as far back as a month or even longer if you like. I can almost bet this question has been asked at least 30 times in the last month and answered.

The hardest thing is not knowing enough to know what to ask!

bennychico and Rokket and shiatzu have all given you good advice.......poke around and read old threads in this forum, use the search feature for leads to more specific threads ....
it makes it easier to figure out how to frame a question specifically enough that the answers will be helpful, and keeps folks from answering the same questions enough times to start to get cranky....
