when you buy cubase it says you need an internet conection ,but does it have to be on your daw computer or can you activate the dongle from another computer ?

or will the dongle only work on the computer that it activates on ?
or is the internet conection just to register the software and nothing to do with the dongle ?

just something i need to know before i think about shelling out £400

(just dont fancy putting my daw on the net just to activate the dongle.) :(

Yes.

No.

It is only used to get the license on the USB dongle. After that you do not need an Internet connection.

You can register the dongle on another computer and move it over to your DAW. I believe you can now use the donlge on different computers too. -Rez

You don't even have to have the dongle plugged in to the computer that you register your license on. When I got my copy of Cubase SL(3.0), I had to get the license code/activation code or whatever while I was at work because I didn't even have the internet at home at that time. But, if I recall correctly, all it was was a 16 (or XX) number digit that I had to type in so that Cubase would recognize the dongle and activate the program.
