I have a decent guitar and instrument cables, with a Marshall MG30FX. I have a budget of around $50 dollars. I have a computer. I just want something that will help me record some guitar tracks with no feedback/noise through the headphones jack on the amp. It doesn't have to sound super professional, but it can't be like a laptop mic recording. I prefer something that enters the computer as USB. Any suggestions? I also prefer that it can either be picked up at Long & Mcquade or Bestbuy.

Behringer UCA 202 (222). I guarantee it will work on any computer (not tried W8!) and should be fine fed from the headphone output of the amp or the FX send jack.

16 bits and 44.1/48kHz only but vastly better than PC soundcard quality and more than good enough for noisy, distorted ole geetar amps! Better spec than any tape or vinyl system as well.

Dave.

The output on my amp is 1/8". Would an adapter mess up the quality?

Well, that was all dealt with speedilly !
