I naver had any problems..but today when I switched on my Event 20/20bas monitors I noticed a faint hum noise..its not very distracting now but I'm concerned if it will get worse in the long term. Has this got anything to do with the audio or power cables?
I think I might be using a non factory power cable.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I never heard hum from my Events PS6s....

You might have a ground loop....

I haven't had any audible hums in the speaker systems themselves (I have the Event Trias with the power amps in the subwoofer). However, I discovered that a longstanding system hum that I'd been chasing (thinking it was a ground loop) was actually being magnetically induced in my board: stray fields leaking from the power transformer in the subwoofer were getting into my channels! I moved the sub off away from the board, and eliminated that problem completely (although now I have to re-tweek the room: the new position isn't as good for the sub...).

I suspect that the Event guys didn't consider how sensitive a good mic pre can be to stray fields. Those of you with powered nearfields on your meter bridge might want to go back and measure noise floors with the speakers both on and off. I was quite astonished to see that I was getting that much 60Hz injected into my rig from that- but now that it is fixed, it is _nice_.

Does these "Hum Eliminator" really work?
Yes... it works very well (on audio ground loops!)

It's an in-line connection - in the case of monitors:

mixer/main outs --> HE --> Event inputs

Before you buy anything....

Check to make sure that your audio signal cords aren't running parallel to your power cords. This will cause a nice AC hum. Overall, I'd try moving your cords around in different positions to see if the hum increase or decreases. If that doesn't work, try cleaning your cable mess (everyone has one, don't they??!!!), keeping your power and signal cords as separate as possible (especially not running parallel with each other). Also check for any grounding problems.

Make sure your power supplys are as far away from the speakers as possible. I just solved this enoying hum last night.

Worked!

Hi guys..
Thanks for the input. I had to rearrange all my gear and now the Events are very silent. I think it was all due to the cord mess I had.
