Does the rode NTK need phantom power?

I'm using a Rode NTK through a Focusrite VMP. I usually have someone else do the mic set-up for me so I don't have to run back and forth, to and from the vocal room while recording. Probably sounds stupid, but he's out of town and I noticed the +48V button on the VMP is switched on. Is this the way it's supposed to be?
I was going to try testing it out at both settings, but I'm afraid to power up the NTK with +48V on. I fear I could damage the mic if I do. Please help. I'm not sure if it was switched on accidently or not. The Rode manual mentions nothing about Phantom power.

It doesn't need it, as it's a tube mic with its own power supply, but it won't hurt it if it's on.
