Does the order of the real-time effects matter?

when you add real-time effects in the console view, does it matter how you order them? like eq before reverb or delay after reverb...etc I'm guessing the order probably makes it function like rack effects.

Yes! If you place the eq before the reverb, the eq'ed sound will get "reverbed". If you do it the other way around, the reverb (and original signal) will get eq'ed...

Here's one. Take a distortion plug ('tape sim') on a di bass. (I did, it just WANTED some dirt!) After compression it tends to be smoother and move even sounding. Befor the comp, it tends to crunch harder and mostly on the loudest lines.

Eq befor or after can effect how compressors hit, if your using lots of eq. For milder tweeks, not so much difference. Think of the ratio of the dynamics vs the amount of eq. If your trying to squish a wild signal, a little eq befor won't mater much. A bunch of eq in front of a little compression would. Kind of like how side chain' causes a comp to de-ess.
