Does EZDrummer work with electronic drums?

Hey there!

I've been recording the drum parts of my songs with a Roland TD-3 and it's pretty good but I don't think that the sound is very realistic or at least it could sound better. I've heard that EZDrummer can change the sound of the drum kit but so far I have only seen examples using acoustic drum kits so I was wondering if it will work with my drum kit. The reason I'm not sure whether it will work or not is because EZDrummer uses the separate mics for each part of the drum so when recording, there is a separate track for the snare, hi hat, kick etc. But with my Roland there is only one output so when recording, it only records one track.
Anyway, if anyone knows if EZDrummer will work with the Roland TD-3 please let me know. I want to be sure my drum set will work with it before I go out and buy it.

It has a midi output right?

This post kind of hurt my head.

First, I don't think you saw any EZDrummer examples using acoustic kits. Every video I've seen reviewing/showing off EZD has used electronic drums. A lot of them LOOK like acoustic drums.

Second, what do you mean EZD can change the sound of the drumkit...if you're triggering EZD with a electronic kit you'd be using the sounds from EZD.

Third, look at the side of your TD-3, you have a MIDI out which you would connect to the MIDI in of your DAW interface and subsequently use to trigger the sounds in EZD. You're making it a lot more complicated than it has to be.
 
Haha ya, I've noticed that whenever I post something on a forum I seem to ramble.
I checked to see if my kit had a midi and it did, it was hiding behind my hi hat on the side instead of on the back where the mono output is so that's probably why I didn't see it before. I hadn't thought about EZDrummer using midi =S so I guess your right, I am making it more complicated than it is haha

Yeah it will work if it has a MIDI out on your drum kit. I run my Roland TD-6 through an external soundcard and then through addictive drums/ezdrummer in Cubase. Although you might have to re-map the drum map on your DAW so that when you play the snare on your edrums it will play a snare sample and not a hi-hat sample.
