I can't figure it out, every time I try to do anything with Cakewalk Music Creator 2003 I get one of those " this program has performed an illegal oppreation and will be shut down " pop up windows, then I get a freeze up on my entire system. Needless to say this has got me wondering if i wasted my money on a piece of crap program, which by the way, dosen't seem to be very user friendly, or is my puter screwed up. I've gone through the tutorials several times and they seem to work fine, but when I try to apply the program and make it useable I keep getting the same results...illegal opperation...I can't even get it to lay down a single mono track let alone do anything else, it's beginning to piss me off! Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem might be? I'm stumped and so far Cakewalk's help site and on line help has not been of any help at all. I'm beginning to think Cakewalk is a rip off, correct me if I'm wrong or point me in the right direction if I'm right.

Cakewalk Music creator, is kind of last on the list of the Cakewalk products, but from what I can gather, it's pretty similar to Pro Audio 8, which I have.

I have gotten that error in two instances, one is when the sample rate / bit depth was set on my soundcard to something other than what the software, or particular file I was trying to open was set to. Check your soundcard settings, and Audio Properties in Cakewalk to see if this is the case.

The other that I remember was when trying to open a file that had an instance of "drumagog" (demo) in it. This plugin somehow
thought that my trial time limit was up, so it created an error!!

I actually only got to use the Drumagog demo for an hour or so before it locked me out. Fortunately I had just backed up the file that I was using Drumagog in. I had to delete the other one.

I think I should post a warning about that demo in here, unless it is commonly known, or maybe I just did something wrong?:confused:

Moskus, or James heard anything like this?:)

Dani, why don't you post your system specs to get a better grip of the problem?

:)

Also, no I generally have smooth operation of Cakewalk 95% of the time as do many many people in this forum who would vouch for the product.

I run Cakewalk 9 and it's pretty much stable.

first thing you can try remove cakewalk from your comp, reboot defrag your hard drive and then reboot again and reinstall cakewalk again, ive heard of this problem before, what i read about it is that your computer if not defragged regulary will scatter the files all over the hardrive and instead of finding the dll files it reports an error and freezes up. im not sure this is your exact problem. it would help to know what you have for a computer and also when you install cakewalk it runs a wave profiler of your system to set up your comp for recording this may have not gott done wright or somthing. we can help you more if you let us know, what processor you have, what souncard,video card and how much ram you have. that would help alot. thanks. god bless and good luck. tim pate

Flash2ace using the term "Cakewalk" for "Music Creator 2003".

Damn this "Cakewalk" nonsence! :mad:

From now on:
Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 => PA9
Cakewalk Music Creator 2003 => Music Creator
Sonar => Sonar
etc...

;)

maestro_dmc was right. You better put a general spec of your PC to gain better oppinion. Specially what OS do you use. And at least, when did the problem occur. Have you found something that you curious ? How's your "usual" set ? etc...
