Does anyone make guitar body covers?

As you can see to the left, my favorite ESP has an interesting graphic on it. Unfortunately, the graphic does not allow me to play it in certain (most/all) venues. ARRRGH!

I love the axe. I also can't bring myself to refinish or sell it. Additionally, the "electrical tape" fix is too blatant.

Thus, does anyone know of a company that makes a guitar body cover that will temporarily conceal the graphic?

Either that or a suggestion of a simple home brew remedy. For example, I've considered a semi-tac glue and some sort of material. I've also tried contacting 3M to no avail. Any suggestions?

It's a nice guitar, no reason to mess with it. Just buy something else you like for those occassions when you feel you can't play your ESP, maybe even another ESP.

The guitar is cool, but the chick looks like she fell out of the 80's.... Very Dated looking hairdo.... Are you sure that isn't one of the members of the Bangles?

Just have it refinished.... Black.... (Dull, Not gloss....)

Thanks for the suggestions, but you may be missing my point: I just want to cover it for the occasions where it may be inappropriate. I don't want to refinish it.

Thanks for the compliment. I wish I could afford another $2100 Custom ESP. I also have a MIII ESP, which is my second fave. However, not quite up there with the custom. It'd be a lot cheaper to cover the graphic than to get another Custom.

I think both the chick and the guitar fell out of the 80's when the airbrushed guitar thing was trendy. The chick is Erika Eleniak, the first Baywatch bombshell and a Playboy centerfold who had parts in movies such as Under Siege, Beverly Hillbilles, even a bit part in E.T., etc. So much effort went into the artwork, I just can't bring myself to refinish it.

You serious? They won't allow you because of what's painted on your guitar??? Must be america.

Ever thought of a pick-guard? That could cover part of it? Hmmm... You probably don't want to drill holes in it.

Maybe you should make a fluffy cover. about the form of your guitar, with an elastic side. Something that would make it look kindof like a teddybear.

Hey Lopp,

I have wondered what the signifigance of that picture was many times. I still can't quite figure out how it sits on the guitar, but now at least I know where it comes from.

I remember a company in the '80's that made a product call "Guitarsox", if memory serves. THe point of their products was to protect from belt buckle scratches, but it would work for your applicaton just as well. It was just a thin fabric sock with elastic on the edges and it fit right over the guitar body - sort of like a hairnet.
Don't konw if they're still in business or not.

Remember those kids toys? 2D plastic scenes with animals etc? Coloforms was the company name. If your guitar's finish is glossy, then something along those lines would work. (I'd test it on the back first...)

I think the Gutiarsox came in fun patterns like zebra and tiger stripes. Pink and fuzzy would be good too, like a ZZ Top guitar.

I like Roel's idea for ears and eyes. Maybe those adhesive craft eyeballs with the free-floating pupils.

My advice would be to get some sticky-back (or transfer paper) at a graphic design store. I use this stuff all the time at work, where we transfer images onto plastic film, and I don't think that it'll damage the finish. At about 20 cents per sheet, you could cut a bunch of pieces into any shape you want, and then discard them after a single use.

If you have even a moderate quality printer, you could also print anything you wanted to onto the sheets, and then slap it on your guitar. The stuff is opaque enough to conceal whatever you are trying to cover.

It's inappropriate at some of the venues. E.g., weddings/churches. It's not a problem at the bars.

Fuzzy teddybear? How about a fuzzy teddie?

Good advice. I'll hit an art/graphic design store. That reminded me that I used to get something similar to use as a mask when airbrushing.
