does anyone have the fostex vf 160ex

Want to use vf 160ex as a control surface for daw. Can it be done through midi ? It doesn't have usb

I was initially going to say no, but taking a look at the manual it does appear to have some MMC (MIDI Machine Control) functions (not sure if they transmit from the VF160ex or not). Assuming you have an interface for your DAW that also has MIDI 5 pin DIN connectors, you could try to bridge the VF160ex through the interface and out the USB to the computers DAW. It may take some experimenting to make it work if it does it at all. It will also depend if the DAW has the ability to be setup to recognize MMC commands.
I've had some limited luck using the controls in a DAW to control the transport of a Tascam 2488NEO bridging the USB interface to the MIDI connectors on the 2488NEO.

Yes I have scarlett1820 interface and I does have midi in and out. Wanting to use with audition 1.5 daw
