Does anyone have some acoustic guitar samples with an "AT4040 + DMP-3" ?

I've been always frustrated with the the results of this combination.

Most of the tests that i've done, sound like the guitar is played under the water, and very low on fidelity. This character is more noticeable when doing arpeggios.

I would love to hear some arpeggio recordings, or some basic rhythms w/o fingernail, to compare and convince my self that i can archive better results.

Thanks in advance.

hey rec-pro what happened to all your red chicklets???

has some inconsiderate mindfuck been giving you good rep :D :D

mmm.... i'm happy with it's sound, is a Yamaha F-310.
Maybe not the best guitar in world for 150$, but it is ok.

anyway..., the tracked sound is very far from what i hear.

Even with the most popular mic positions, it always sound like it's being played under the water.

This is my waife playing...she's a beginner, so the playing is not real smooth, but it's her acoustic, with an AT4040, and a DMP3......Acoustic

Sounds great. How far is the AT?

are you using the "low cut" in the AT?, in the dmp3?, or in both ?

If this was at me, I don't use either of teh low cut switches...and the mic was actually just laying on a table, about 1 ft from the guitar....near the soundhole.

I really don't like the low cut on the DMP3, fwiw. It really changes the sound in a not-so-pleasant way.

this could have something to do with it too. invest in a mic stand, even a desktop one. then get some air around that mic and angle it near the bridge. could help with the stuffed and sludgy sound as well.

i have the same guitar and pre but I don't have a 4040. i get a pretty decent sound with about any of the mics i have though. i've heard alot of good things about the 4040 so I don't think the mic is your problem. what i hear wrong in your recording is dull strings and alot of background noise.

Try recording in!

Try recording with N-Track 4 in LIVE Mode, Sounds like its right there and sounds like a Acoustic Guitar, Yes Really, I have never in my 20 years in Business heard better sound than N-Track 4 Live Recording.
New strings will help also. Old ones will sound like its underwater.

Well, from the looks of your other posts, it is clear that you like n-track. However, spamming all over the board for your software really doesn't help this poster. Software is the least of the problem.
