Does anybody use USB or Parallel port for MIDI. Which one is better? Also is it better to have MIDI i/o on the sound card or use it through a port. What is the difference between the two?
Thanks, Rubo

I can't speak for the USB interface but parallel MIDI interfaces like the one I use work great in terms of bandwidth but have a serious flaw. When I have the A/B parallel switch set to the printer instead of the MIDI interface and try to start up CW the whole system crashes so hard that a complete reboot is required. This shouldn't (theoretically) occur with a USB interface. Maybe it's just a CW problem but I'm skeptical that this is the case.

What are you PC specs. Maybe it can't handle the load. Plus I will use my PC only for music - no printers, fax machines or internet.

I use the midimai midisport 2X2 also.

I have not had any problems with this piece of equipment.

I think that your computer has to use Windows 98 or later.

I use the Midiman Midisport 2x2 also.

I had a bit of a problem installing, I think it was
my Cd-roms fault, but once the drivers were
installed it has run perfectly ever since, and the
handy little thru button on the front is great
if I dont wanna power up my whole system.

as C7sus said, having 32 channels of midi sure
beats 16.
