I've been checking the board for different mic recos and I'm a bit confused...
I record using my computer and a Presonus Bluetube mic pre and need to replace my mic... (old Shure Unidyne B). Unfortunately I only have a couple hundred to spend. I'll mostly be recording vocals but may also mic my guitar amp.
For vocals it sounds like the popular choice is a large diaphram but in my price range does it make more sense to buy a Shure 58 until I can afford a REAL condenser / tube mic or buy one of the lower end condensers??
I've heard about NT1 / NT3 / AKG C1000 which sound like they are all in my price range but what is the difference in SOUND??
I prefer a warmer sound vs a bright sound if that helps....
So...do I buy or wait?? (possibly the wait could be AWHILE until I have $700 - 1000 to spend)
Please help!! Thanks
