ok, sorry if this sounds TOO newbie ...

but i totally changed my setup,
i used to work with Cool edit pro 2.0 and two Dman 2044 cards

but now i changed everything to

cubase sx 2 and a Motu 828

i know you can't multitrack in Adobe Audition with a motu,
but is it the same thing for cubase ?

i can record the first two outputs of my motu, two mono channels or one stereo track, now, doesn't cubase support the motu completely, or how can i seperately adjust the input settings of all my 10 inputs ?

...blushes;...

(i've been trying, reading the manual for parts and i cursed alot today,
so you guys are like my helpline ... )

regards ,

earworm did u make sure those other ports were enabled in cubase?

Yup ....
You need to go to Devices then device setup ... then click VST Multitrack.
For the ASIO Driver ... set it to MOTU Firewire.
Then click VST Inputs .... setup all of the inputs you want to use.
Do the same for VST Outputs.

yeah, i spent some time messing with cubase and now its all fixed,

i already set the asio drivers to MOTU FIREWIRE,
and i see i got pretty nice latency too
(about 10 milliseconds)

i made some mono and stereo busses for inputs and outputs, and it works !
great

but now, next week i'm gonna start messing with Midi again,
and is there a way to get less latency ?

i assume that if i give myself a smaller Buffer, (now its set on 512) then i'll get lower midi latency ? or .... doesn't it make ANY difference if you just work with vst instruments ?
