It's pitchy :-( And a little low for you. Why not give it a try transposed up a step? Your friend has good ears.

First off, I would like to say the bass is too loud. Don't know if you're mixing that or not.

Second. I don't think it's too low. It's just fine for you.

Third. I don't know you mean when you're asking "what do you mean its pitchy." Your singing goes out of tune. It's pitchy.

EDIT: Somebody turned my damn sub too high :cursing:. The bass is still too loud for me, but that's subjective. :D

Robby's right. Your pitch isn't perfect, but it's not terrible either.

Maroon five sing this an octave higher than you are, so when your friend says your voice is to deep, that might be what he/she means.

Hey man. When RockinRobby says it's pitchy he means you don't always hit the right notes, especially on some of the higher notes when you fall short of the correct pitch. However, your voice has a nice tone and you have the potential to become a great singer if you practice some daily vocal exercises or possibly take some singing lessons.

As far as the deepness of your voice goes, I can tell that you sang this song towards the bottom of your register. To explain this: most people have at least two octaves of usable vocal range. You sang this song in the lowest octave possible for you which gives the effect of your voice being deep. Octaves are hard to explain in writing, but try this: sing this song again, but this time see if you can sing the same melody but "higher". This might sound weird, but if you take some time and experiment with your voice you will realize that you can sing the same note in two or three different pitches, or frequencies, across your register. Even though you have a deep voice you don't have to always sing with low notes. You can give the impression of your voice being much higher and stronger by singing in a higher octave.

Your voice really isn't all that deep (mine is even deeper) and even so, having a deep voice isn't a bad thing at all. You just need to experiment and find the sweet spot in your voice where you feel most comfortable singing and where you like the tone of your voice best.

I try to not comment on this sort of pos unless I know what I am talking about. I am a vocalist- pop and choir- have some formal/classical training, too, so I feel qualified in saying these things- take them as you wish.

Your intonation is, as mentioned, not great, but that can be addressed with voice lessons. the word "pitchy" confused me, too- I wasn't sure if the poster was referring to your intonation or he thought you had too much tar ("pitch") in your throught from smoking cigarettest... :D

You voice is far from truly "deep." Think Lou Rawls or Barry White- you are not even close.

You seem to be trying to sing in a key that is not well suited to your voice. You can probably find the song on the internet, perhaps karaoke style, in a few diferent keys- use them to find a key that works for your voice.

Okay thanks. Well.. I don't smoke, so.. I wasn't sure what he was meaning by "pitch" I thought my pitch was on the same level if you know what I mean. I feel as if my singing is low as hell! I actually don't enjoy recording with my voice.. because it annoys me when i hear it through my headphones, it goes right through me. Its like.. I cant find my singing voice -_-

What exercises can I do? I have been watching Roger Burnley on YouTube. But his videos aren't long enough to show you what to do. I don't know what exercises to do.

If you know any good vocal coaches on YouTube then I would appreciate it so much.

Thanks :)

I don't know of any, but don't be discourage. I found that time really helped. It took me a year of exercises before I found my voice to be decent.

Thanks. I wasn't mixing it. The bass is actually pretty loud. What I mean by "what do you mean its pitchy" is.. I didn't know what he was meaning.

You voice isn't particularly low but any singing I've heard from you is at the bottom of your range.

Seriously, take it up an octave like the original if you can.
That will force you to put more power and strength into it.

I told him to sing lower because I heard him sing higher. It was "pitchy" lol.

But in all seriousness Sean, you don't have to sing everything lower. I said that because singing higher can be harder to keep pitch. It's the same with me. Just practice singing higher range songs, and it will become easier to hit those notes.

Pitchy means you're floating around the note rather than hitting it. Or you may hit it and drift? It sounds like you are a singer, so I believe you could improve with practice, and in the right key.

Yea like RockinRobby said, the pitch/note is not precise. Held notes are wobbly and often a note doesn't sound the same when you come back to it. Nothing that can't be fixed with some practice and exercise. I would recommend Seth Riggs. He's a pretty famous dude (actually lives down the street from me and nice guy in person too). Honestly, 90% of the content of most singing programs that cost hundreds of dollars contain very standard scales are arpeggios that any vocal coach would use/teach. Not saying that its a bad thing because they are extremely important and effective but if you're a on a budget like me you would rather not pay the hundreds on dollars for exercises that any music degree student could teach you. However, I am fairly certain that someone uploaded his program up onto youtube just search "seth riggs". So there you go, free high caliber program. The vocal chords are muscles that can be trained for power and control.
