Do you know how to fit 244 control belt ??

I have just got new belts for my 244 Tascam portastudio as I use it for quick records of ideas. The capstan belt is straight forward but the control belt - the thick one - looks as though you have to dismantle half the macine to get it on. Is there a trick to this?? or can anyone giude me to a site with intstructions.

Another problem

OK. I've figured out how to get all belts on - was actually the capstan belt causing previous problem - but now problem is that controls are out of sync. Have figured out that pot controls motion of control drive wheel but all is out of sync - does anyone no how to get these back in sync without having to remove transport mechanism. If no one can help I'll just have to buy service manual.

Forgive me, 'cause it's been a while, but...

I think you have to rotate the head/load mechanism 180 degrees, and you'll be okay. Also, make absolutely sure that the connectors are on correctly. A flipped over or backward connector might cause the same symptom. Bottom line is that you have to play with it until you get it back on correctly.
