Hi all,
I am trying to get the effect like CHER uses in her dance song. It sounds like a vocoder.
Can someone help?!!?!?

Do you mean that weird effect in the song "Do You Believe"?

Try this:
Sing and sample the one note you want to "toggle". Adjust the eq until your voice sounds something like an oboe. Then you can "toggle" it up and down on the keyboard.

Sing way out of tune, then apply a pitch correcting effect to it.

Fishmed got it... I read in Mix that the effect on Kid Rock's "Only God Knows Why" is Anteres Autotune (rackmount model). Sounds exactly the same as Cher.

I've got the software version, and it will give that effect if you are not careful in selecting your parameters. The pitch correcting works great most of the time, but I really HATE when that effect pops its ugly head.

Yo Sir Richard of Black:

If you can get your hands on an Ensonique DP-4 processor, dial in HAPPY HARMONY and you will get an interesting analogous effect on any vocal. There is also a patch called, NASTY HARMONY which will make a vocal demonic. The DP-4 is a big old processor box that I picked up years back; I still use it once in a while because it has soooo many patches and they can be edited.

Enjoy,

Have to go; Kato just fell into the trout pond.
