Do xlr mic require pre amp?

Hey,
I found a mic which are supplied with a detachable xlr cable. Nowi wanted to ask that if one end is not a 3.55mm than will an adaptor do the work ( xlr to 3.5mm ) or will i require a pre amp?

and whats more atifkt if you're thinking of pluging this mic into your laptop/desktop computers on board sound card mic input.
That isnt going to work
you need an interface
go and read the stickys on recording with a pc, you'll find loads of helpfull information there.
