Hi -
I've had these mics for a while. I inherited them from my father who had a small studio in the 70's, so all these mics are at least that old. I've used some (not often as I have newer mics with which I'm more familiar) with varying results, but some of these mics haven't been manufactured in quite a while so getting info on them is difficult. Since this seems to be the place where people actually USE their equipment and seem to be knowledgable, I figured I'd ask. Here are the mics in question and what I think they are...maybe you could correct me if I'm wrong and steer me toward the proper direction of utilizing these mics.
AKG D160 - dynamic? I have two
AKG D140 - dynamic? I have two of these also
AKG D200 - probably another dynamic?
Beyer M500 - ribbon
Beyer M250 - ribbon
I also got an EV RE20 that wasn't working, but sent it back to EV and they did a great job overhauling it for me. Cool company. I was pleased and now have a great mic for my closet. Also, does age matter to a ribbon mic? The Beyers haven't been used since around 1980 and was wondering if the stagnation would affect the ribbons. I tried contacting Beyer via e-mail, but to no avail. Thanks so much for your help in advance. I'd really likle to know if some of these mics are worth keeping around. Probably for what they cost me, I can't lose. Thanks again.
