do I need a decent soundcard?

Hi all, newbie here...

I have just bought a Tascam US122, and I am wondering how important it is to have a good soundcard for my computer? Will it affect my recordings much? Do I need it to 'process' the tracks in any way or does my CPU and RAM/ program etc. take car of all that.

I don't want to spend big bucks on a souncard with fancy inputs etc. unless totally neccecarry, because they are not needed as I have all I need in my 'breakout box'.

Well if you just bought a Tascam US122... You just bought a soundcard.

Correct...the US-122 is a sound card.
