The Lyricist

New member
There's many rappers that influenced me. But the followin 3, I feel made the biggest impacts on me as well as where I felt I inherited my lyrical abilities from are Biggie, Rakim, and Slick Rick. Wit that being said, the mixture of those 3 emcees, were mixed together to form & bring to you who I am today, The Lyricist.

I want you all to be very honest to me and give me your honest opinions(whether good or bad) about my songs.

yo

cuz u got like a gazillion songs up on that piece - any in particular u want us to ck or just pick one at random?

click on all of em if u want, to get an overall of me

ok

i clicked on the first two jonts - i cant listen to all of em right now - im at work - but just from first impression it sounds to me kinda like you are reading your lyrics off of a sheet of paper and u dont really kno 'em that well.......not tryin' to diss - just being honest

u named some stellar artist as influences tho - if u are even trying to be in company with them then that is a good thing - keep up the effort man............imma ck a few more and i'll hit u back

it's coo. u aint dissin me. that's ur opinion, keep em comin folks.

I only heard that "eternal love" track.

the recording quality was pretty crappy.

but I quite liked it.

you can definately work on your delivery - next step is more emotion I think.

but i liked this quite a lot to be honest.

you've definately got potential.

yes like he said you got potential, but there's still work to do (maybe with better mixing and beats the tracks would sound better). btw i listened to the rocky remix thing and unleashed.

for unleashed the sound was reaaaally shitty. you oughta use a compressor or something, it's clipping all over the place. and for the rocky thing you oughta put a little less reverb and delay on the voice, it's too much.

lyrics are correct, but flow is not constant... some parts are very good, but at others it really sounds like you're reading something new and trying to fit the words on the beat (not like you actually doing it, just sounds like it).

but keep working, it'd be worth it, unlike some people.

I agree with the proletariat and Dj17...

I only listened to the first two songs.

On the first track....

It sounds as if you are reading off of a sheet of paper. It sounds as if you haven't memorized your lyrics. It seems as if you are trying to cram your words together to fit your cadence. it seems as if you are not feeling your own material.

You also need to re-mixdown your instrumental track. You have the MASTER level too hot (that is why it sounds distorted).

On the second track....

You need track you need to.....

Re-EQ homegirls voice.

You need to take take some of the FX's off of your voice.

You also need to compress your track, because you have your levels all over the place.

You need to turn down your "backing" track.

Plus..... there is a LOT of cursing (in my eyes, useless cursing. But, to each his own......).

Please, do not get offended. We are offering constructive criticisms.

You already know your strong points.

We are just trying to help you build your weaker elements into strengths.

Peace.....

Here yee, here yee,

Its not bad, but The production quality/ mixing needs work. what type of mic are you working with? I think you have some potential if you invest in some gear or some studio time.
Your beats are cool. I like the imperial beat. Sorry, but the Rulers not Back. I agree that it sounds like you are reading it. and lots of folks do read while they rhyme. Just try not to sound like you are.
You just need a good producer and lots of studio time.
Oh yeah, IMHO cursing doesnt sell, for me, it turnd me off right away and I wont even listen. there are so many words out there and to cuss is the easy way out

Peace,
Sir Bergersworth
