I have recently bought a Terratec DMX 6 fire 24/96 soundcard. I am currently in the process of trying transfer songs from my Fostex VF 16 via s/pdif to my computer. I am doing this using the VF 16's save mode through s/pdif. I am recording in to Cubase SX. However i am experiencing problems! Errors are occurring on the tracks forcing them slightly out of time with one another. When the wave form is spread out enough i can see the point where the errors are occurring. I am completely stumped as to where this problem is coming from or how to go about solving it!

I don't know anything about the Terratec, but you may need to go into the Terratec software control panel (or whatever it has) and set the master clock to S/PDIF IN.

What may be happening is that the Fostex and the Terratec are each using their own internal clock, and these clocks are out of sync with each other. You need to set the Terratec clock so that it follows the clock of the Fostex. There should be a way in the Terratec software to let you set it to follow the clock of the S/PDIF input port. Don’t forget to set it back to “internal” when you’re done.

Did you solve it ?

I've got the same card and it seems fine, I have to set it to SPDIF in and then later to wave playback. the card is full duplex in that it outputs and inputs digital at the same time. The settings are very specific, but it lets you save set ups for future use, so the whole thing becomes a toggle for certain uses. Great card. I've A/B'd it to my digital console and I cannot hear the difference. By the way it has the same processor as the M-Audio, and much better driver.
