DMP-3 troubles...

I recently purchased a DMP-3 and just got a chance to really put it to the test this weekend. I used it on my drum OH's. I am using a matched pair of Joe Meek JM-27's and I noticed something quite odd. I would think that with it being a matched pair, the gain's on the pre should be pretty much set at the same level to get the same signal to my soundcard, however, in order to get pretty much the same levels to my computer, I had to set channel A as low as it would go and channel B to between 1 and 2 o'clock. Does it seem like something is up with that? I am going to test it out a little more on a different pair of mics. I have 3 ATM29HE's that i want to check it out on and ill post the results in a day or so.

Any suggestions on how to start ruleing out other possible problems?
 
There is a push button by each channel that allows low gain or high gain on each channel. It sounds like you have each one set differently.

I have done it many times myself.

nope...tried every combination i could try...i made sure both buttons were either out or in...i also checked the gains on my soundcard to make sure they were both the same...i had them down as far as they would go.

anyone else had a similar problem???

Have the mics always been okay? You've tried them through different pre's?
 
Some other culprits may be:

a)The mics themselves- switch them and see if the problem follows the mic.
b) the mic cables (One may be going bad).
c) are the meters reading the same when your sound card is reading the same? then it has to be something at the input stage (either mic / cable / electronics)

Let us know what you find out.

WHEW!!! Im hoping I'v gotten it narrowed down to a bad cable. some strange stuff going on when i switched the cables....the signal on one went through the roof and the other was non existant. SOOOOOOOO...I grabbed 2 new cables (i had already switched the mics to a couple of ATM29HE's) and that seemed to fix the problem...i think...i still get different signals if i set the DMP-3 to the same settings but hopefully this is due to the mic's not being in EXACTLY the same spot and not being a matched pair. Maybe tomorrow ill have time to test a few more things and ill post the results...if anyone can suggest any more tests that i should try...please do so...
