Hi. I'm a DJ with a local radio station. I'd like to record my show at home on my computer and give it to them to use during the week.

I haven't a clue about getting started. I'm not a rich girl, and do not want to invest much money.

I have a Nero CD Burning program.

When you say give it to them, what can they accept? I assume you are planning on burning an audio CD to hand them.

If you are planning on talking and then playing songs, for 2-4 hours on end, you have a lot of challenges.

Audacity is a nice free program for doing some beginning recording. You can get any one of a number of USB mic or somehting similiar advertised as a "podcast" setup. For instance...

The trouble is, that hours and hours of audio recorded even at modest quality will take up more than one CD, lots of hardrive space, and doesn't evben take into account editing, etc. However, it might not be too hard to get than ang of it and you could potentially convert to MP3 and make it more portable if the radio station can play that format.

Yep, I could burn 2 cd's at one hour apiece.

Does that change things at all? I'd like to be able to add commentary.

then your good. A decent vocal mic, pre amp and interface will do you will. Search around for a "podcasting" setup. Thats essentially what your looking for. Some newer mics plug directly into the computer, but most plug into an interface that plugs into a computer.

Hi,

I use GoldWave to record my mixes (everything from the mixer gets recorded so you can include your mic), but you can use loads of progs. I then tidy up in Sound Forge.

When you have the WAV's, burn them in Nero and your sorted.

As long as you have a means of connecting your DJ gear to PC (Sound Card, ext audio interface) you can record your show and even edit afterwards.

Hope this helps you.
