Can you guys help me out with choosing a DJ mixer for my set-up? I'm not a DJ and wouldn't do much scratching (if any).

I need a DJ mixer to run the signal from my Thorens turntable to the sampler. I'd like to manipulate the sound a little bit before sampling, so I'd like to get one with good sounding EQ and a good quality built-in preamp.

Thanks for any suggestions...

Any dj mixer will get the job done, if you are just sampling from wax.

You could check out...

MIDWEST STEREO - http://www.midweststereo.com/
(Tell the owner SAMMY (or his wife BETTY) that DJ SPIN is an acquaintence/friend of yours [he will DEFINITELY give you a discount]).

PRO SOUND AND STAGE LIGHTING - ??????????

If you want to scratch you should disregard my first statement AND get a different TT + a quality new mixer.

BTW.........What is your budget?

What up Spin!

I was thinking I might get a used 1200 later to do some scratching, so it would be nice to get one good mixer for both tasks (sampling and scratching). Again, scratching won't be the main focus. If I wanna record some scratching now, one of my friends offered to bring his 1200...

My budget, hmmm.... at what price do the mixers start to sound "much" better? I mean if there isn't a big difference between the sound of a $200 and a $300 mixer, I might go for the cheaper one, but if at $500 and above the difference becomes obvious, I'll keep saving. Of course, the numbers are totally made up, but you get what I mean, right?

How's everything for you these days? Hit me up on the PM / email if you want...

Peace!

You can get two (2) 1200's, a "mid-level" scratch mixer, and a "coffin" case for $300.00 on EBAY.

Things are TENSE......... here are a few examples

going through a GRIZZLY divorce

having diffilculty w/ visitation and my kids

still healing from my both of my arms being broken, both of my elbows being fractured, and both of my shoulders being dislocated

body and mind still in "limbo" from having seizures and getting blood clots

because of fore mentioned statement I can't drive

ditto for flying overseas to make my money dj'ing

until divorce is final I can't get any of my 800 crates of records OR any of my recording equipment from my soon to be ex-wife's house

blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc......

Just PM me, we can talk more in detail later........

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that if you get one of those scratch mixers like the one in the EBAY ad (I think it was a Stanton) the cross faders burn out fast if you do a TON of scratching. I have destroyed one of those in a week.
