I like the new section of the forum...

Guys, let´s see your custom made drumsets... I´m about to order some maple shells to make a bop set...

Any comments, tips? Thanks!

+1!!! :D It's really nice to see this forum area.

pardon my ignorance but what is a bop set? (not a drummer ;))

Jaja, a Bebop set... a Jazz set! :)

14x18 BD, 12x10 and 14x14 toms...

Go DIY´ers! :D

I've been playing a borrowed kit of my friends that is a custom kit with Keller maple shells

I don't have any comments nor tips. :o
I've done some diy drum works, not seriously, but rather for fun, also as result I've got pretty good stuff to play around with. I can't say, that I actually built them, but simply turned some older no-brand drums into something somewhat cooler, took off thier original ugly skins and finished them up "naturally".
Did I say "fun"? - It's actually a lot of work and a big mess. I would not do it again, really.

Good luck building when you get your fancy shells.

I have some pictures of those things I've made at the site, here are links:

5-piece kit: http://www.mzentertainment.com/studio_workshop_5piece_drum_kit.html
22x14 bass drum, that's my "War Drum" ..heh heh, with diy-made bambo malets: http://www.mzentertainment.com/studio_workshop_22x14_bass_drum.html
And here's a freaky drum, which originally was 16x15 5-lug floor tom, so now it's 10/8-lug "floor snare/tom". It makes a pretty cool effect/side snare drum: http://www.mzentertainment.com/studio_workshop_16x15_floor_tom.html
(the bass and floor tom/snare were from old TKO kit, I've got them for ten bucks with some other pieces at the "trash-sale" :D )

post some pics when you get to your project.
