It would be rude of me to hang out here without giving everyone the opportunity of hearing what I sound like. But remember, nobody made you listen. :D

--- Edit ---

If you want help deciding which one to listen to first, Johnny Echo is the 35th most popular MP3.com song from the Cambridge area. :)

The descriptions caught my interest, but you know, I am sick of MP3.com. Every time I go to their site after a whjile they ask me to register again. I have simply gotten sick of doing that umpteen times and I refuse to again.

56K modem user with limited hard drive space here...so I listened to the thing about the cat (LoFi). I wouldn't dare offer a mix comment because (read first sentence fragment).

It was interesting. I didn't get bored. It's difficult for me to get real caught up in most instrumental tunes, because I'm a hillbilly...(what's the difference between a "fiddle" and a "violin?".. ANSWER: Where you were born). I need banjos 'n stuff. But this was pretty cool.

I liked it.

Oh Yeah...another thing

Sorry to tack more crap onto your thread, but I just realized that I have been "promoted" from "newbie" to "junior member," and I therefore feel qualified to start making policy decisions.

You got 1 star, but I have no idea what this means...(you didn't get it from me). I think that if you can plug a microphone into some recording medium (tape, VHS, disk, whatever), and get ANYTHING other than 60 cycle hum noise to print, you get 2 stars. Everything above 60 cycle hum noise is discretionary.

Just my way of saying, keep posting.

:D

I'm with AlChuck...........I just won't register for MP3.com. Sorry.....I'd like to hear your tune.

I dont screw around with mp3.com either but I will give you some stars to break you out of the clutches of the 1 star bandit!

Hey, thanks for the stars, 'though I'd rather get them for merit, not pity.

No, hang on, pity will do just fine. :)

Sorry to hear about your troubles with MP3.com, that's the first time I've been made aware of that. Needless to say it works fine for me and I've never had to re-register, just set up spam filters in my inbox. :(

I don't know if the UK MP3.com site is any better:

http://uk.artists.mp3s.com/artists/165/peter_maydew.html

There is a smaller selection of MP3s at:

http://www.peoplesound.com/artist/petermaydew/

and

http://stage.vitaminic.co.uk/peter_maydew/

You can also get RealAudio direct from my site:

http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~peter.maydew/

- but it's a pretty lo-fi experience.

--- Edit ---

Chris, congratulations on your promotion - 'course, here in the UK we get 50 cycle hum which everyone knows is more musical. :D

Cat in Heaven

I listened to 'Johnny Echo', and that was o.k. I expected a lot being that it was on the charts..

However,

the song I really liked was 'Cat in Heaven.' That was real good.. I love violin and Cello stuff.. great vibe to this.. I love the feel.. It's right up my alley. :) This is the one I would have highlighted..

"Cat in Heaven" is a great piece! Johnny Echo was o.k. Are you using an EBow on Johnny?

good stuff! I'll check out some others later..

Hubbub's the one. Johnny echo and cat in heaven are pretty cool but Hubbub hit a chord with me..............I like it a lot. Sound seemed a little muffled. I listened at the vitaminic site. i don't know if that made any difference but to my ears it could use a little "sparkle" I really, really like that song. (Hubbub bub) ;)

johnny echo

pretty neat stuff, i liked the panning back and forth on the key's,
makes for good headphone stuff. the git at the end was cool to!!

peace
