Ditch my Soundcraft 328XD????

I've been toying with the idea for a while- getting rid of my 328XD in order to lighten the gear load, and replace the mic pres with, say, a Mackie Onyx 800R. But, the 328XD does allow for so many routing options, not to mention onbard dynamics and effects, which are handy when I get into a CPU pinch. I run Nuendo 3 with 2 UAD-1's, and have an RME FF800 linked up to the 328XD. Lots of monitoring and mixing options. I also have some Mindprint and Joemeek mic pres for recording gits and vox, and use the 328XD mainly for drum inputs. The question is, are the Onyx 800R mic pres any better than the UltraMic+ pres in the 328XD? They may have a different character, but are they actually markedly better? Does anyone out there have the answer? I think if the Onyx 800R does not provide a material improvement in mic pre, I'd be crazy to ditch my 328XD. I know that the 328XD is not a widely used board out there in project studio land, but I'm hoping someone out there has enough exposure to them to offer some comments. Thanks!

I found your post ´cause I´m looking for a 328XD to BUY.
Never touched one, but it seems to be a very effective workhorse.

Surely, there will be often a chance to change from "load" to "lightweight" in today´s music-gear-bizz. Good luck, the developers & salesmen hope in your decission to SWITCH-to-X.

I did not spent lots of money for a LONG time in my aged equipment, hoping things will come better, cheaper, easier. -> but they go NEW WAYS.

Seeking for a better workflow and a way to kill cpu-hussel etc. I found&loved that soundcraft-concept. (theoretically...)

I´d like to have my own experience with this nice console ...
... just like I´d like to run a fully-equiped-1994-state-of-the-art-apple-nubus-degidesign-protools.

The 328 was assumed a "award winnig, console-of-near-future".
Where is this future now ?
It´s today, it says duocore, vst, dsp ... inside a producer´s PC.
It says touchscreen , controler-modules & co.

I want a 328XD.
For workflow, I suppose it is prepared for - in the manner I am handling my workspace.
