Quick question....I just got a Great River MP1 NV mic pre and a Distressor.....I'm using a Rode NTK and an O2R, recording to Nuendo PC(RME card with adat lightpipe)
Does it make a difference to go:

Rode--->Mic pre--->distressor---->O2R
or:
Rode-->mic pre(w/distressor as an insert)----->O2R
or:
Rode-->mic pre--->O2R(w/distressor as insert)

Should I chain the distressor or use it as an insert plugged into the Great River?

Is any way less noisy or more headroom or more/less control of the signal etc.

Any advice would be most appreciated....

Any of the three choices will work, it all depends on what your trying to accomplish. If you want to control recording vox, use the distressor as an insert on the mic pre as your first choice so that your printing it, and thats typically how I do vocals. For mixdown I would insert the distressor on the 2 buss. The first choice could sound the same as the 2nd choice. Try all 3 and see which one makes you the happiest.
