Has anyone ever used a short (almost) inaudible delay on distorted guitars at the choruses (ie thick struming parts) to add depth to the guitars?

Ive never tried it but I though i would ask to see if anyone has used this technique and had good results from it.

I was thinking so the listener doesnt know the delay is there you could automate the delay so that any time the guitar stops playing the delay wouldnt carry on. juat an idea.

I double the guitar at times with about a 32 ms delay and pan them opposite... PHAT sound. If you can eq them differently all the better!

Yeah i clone my guitar track sometimes and then set one forward a little bit, but i was meaning more actually adding a delay plug-in on the guitar tracks.
I have cloned my track and set one forward a little and panned for a stereo sound and then i just added a short almost inaudible delay to the guitars. I think it might have given them a bit more depth, but not too sure.

Hell, sounds like a plan. Get'em beefy!

Try it and let us know how it goes.

eck, I've used both delay, and chorus to do this. If it's a doubled guitar, and sounds very close, I pan one about 40% left, one 40% right, then add a bit of chorus to one, and see how it sounds. Usually thickens it up a bit, and gives you the feel of two different guitarists playing, instead of just me doing a second take.

Just stuff I've tried, and makes things work for me...

Sounds interesting. Im the kinda guy that likes to have an almost symetricall balance of sounds if you know what i mean.

I double tracked the guitar part and panned 100 each way. I added the same delay to each track then discovered that the delay i downloaded was shite. It was a free plug-in called db-T Tempo delay.
It was gammy.
oh well, anyone know a good free simple one channel delay, rather than all these stereo delays with 50000 different settings?
