That was a unique piece, the structure was good. I like the way that cymbal in the beginning would "bloom" with envelope instead of just crash/fade. Drums sound good, Guitar playing is smooth as silk. Vocals good but seemed to fade in and out a little, hit the wall a couple of times on my speakers. I like the counterrythyms on the drums. Mick Fleetwood secular kinda. I would liked the guitars to be up a little more with the main rythym to smooth the drum pattern some. nice man.... :)

The drums rock !!!

Stratomaster,

After I posted, I went and read some of the other posts (I don't like to pre-read before I post my thoughts - I don't want to be unduly influenced) ..... and totally disagree with the criticism on the drums.

I loved them.

The groove created between the acoustic guitar and drums was "rightgeous" !!!!

Wow!
With this instrumentation I find it hard to be interesting. But this song definetly kept me interested.
I absolutely love the drums! I also say ignore the criticisms. I see where they're coming from, but I think the uniqueness of the drums really add to the tune. I will say that they're a little heavy in the right speaker though. It sounds like they get more towards the center as the song goes on. Maybe that's due to the instrumentation build-up. Or my ears getting used to it. That's my only criticism.

Love the vocals too...and the acoustic guitars...and the electric guitar...and the song...Good work!

damn strat!! nic tune man!! i mean this is kick ass, drums saound gret!!!!!!!!!! wow, that disappear was cool as hell the fade out! have yall played out in monroe yet? let me know man, i want to check it out!! yeh im diggin this!! right on!

The drums do sound good... I like the jazzy feel... my observation was just that they followed rather than led... and IMO that may have been done too much... but it's possible I'm wrong, too

BTW listening again, am I hearing a Smashing Pumpkins influence? The ebows? The basslines? The strumming? The jazzy drums? Sounds like something off Pisces Iscariot, w/a different singer. Cool song.

Sounds good.

I would like to have the drums settle in a little more too. I can feel what you are trying to do with the beat, but it gets a little distracting, especially during the verses. I could almost hear a brush kit on those drums in some spots... hmmm...maybe not...just stray thought that popped in to visit :D. The drums did sound a little too upfront (although the sound was fabulous), but I'm listening on puter speakers, so...

Guitar sound is excellent. I really like it. Good recording.

I like it

another good tune! I really like the drums and the backups.. how did you do the backups? the singer almost sounds like a girl at times, especially on the first line.. (I dont' mean that as an insult because I really like the vox a lot) cool E-Bow! I would like to hear the insruments a bit more.. The tune sounds very drums and vocal-ish, but that's a preference.. good drumming.. Did you use the Digitech Vocal processor for this? I have stopped using that for the main sound.. I only use it when I need an effected sound now.. (which we know is very often.) This tune didn't hit me right away like some of your others, but I got into it after the first 2 minutes or so.. this is a good song..

I really like this song. The singer seems very talented (I did think 'Rush' right away lol). The rhythm is cool. I think it does have its own groove to it, but it kind of keeps pushing you forward (what does that mean! lol).

I bet that singer can really wail if he wants to. It seems like he must have great range, and tremendous potential. It'd be fun to hear him belt out a Robert Plant/Led Zep tune hehe.

I can't remember if there was now, but if there wasn't, this piece seems really suited for a long instrumental jazzy-style jam.

Thanks for the listen :)

Adam

P.S. River song is extremely cool

Very good music and performance! nice vocal of course, wish it was a bit louder tho.

Good work!

well-I hate to make a liar out of myself-but one last bump-

A1A2-thanks for replying (twice!!)-I agree-the vocals are piercing-after hearing the mp3-the first time I considered taking this down but...

Bpoco-This mix has a problem and you've got the cure hehe-yes I think turning up the guitars and the bass-would help alot-its too much drums and vocals--and thats a larrive acoustic-mic'ed with an oktava mc012-around the 10th? fret or so-theres no eq on the acoustics-I moved the mic around till the guitar fit the space it needed too-saves work later-no synth w/ those backing vocals-but they were recorded with verb-again, saves time later--(I don't care too much for the high backups either((man am i in trouble))-Thanks!

Guernica-thanks man-ya the bass is soft-I rolled off some lows in wavelab-might have got carried away-I did it right after I mixed-on the same monitors-2 big mistakes-A solo-I originally had a solo but this is pushing peoples endurance at its present length-maybe live. Thanks for listening.

Toki-thanks man-I'm with you-turn up the guitars hehe-I see you got something up-ill have to check it out.

Fprod-Ha-never ignore criticisms!-If I woulda mixed this better-it might not have been an issue(drums)-but they're so out front...I believe your right about the drums being louder in the right side-good call-glad you enjoyed it thanks for your time and comments.

Fender-You feeling better I hope?yeah we played an open mic last week-just 3 songs-but they asked us to come back and play 2 hours on a weekend-we need a few more live practices to get our act together-I'll be sure and let you know-(bring a drum!!)

participant-thanks for replying again-I understand your opinion(its a fact actually-they are following) I remember asking the drummer to play behind the beat even-so yeah I guess its intentional-you must hear something different--no problems with that!! Smashing pumpkins-I like 'em-don't own any of their stuff-but first time I heard em way back i knew they'd be huge-but this was more inspired by the verse guitar riff i stumbled on-its kind of a unique voicings-with an open "d" ringing. A fun guitar part-till you get to the 5 fret stretch in the chorus :(

jagular-I hear ya-brushes would have worked nice with this-maybe if the drums werent mixed so damn loud-they wouldnt be a distraction(and maybe they still would)-thanks !

BSABB-a rough week for you ehh? we burst a pipe in our studio (garage at singers house)-he's moving out next week anyways-our studio will be in storage "indefinetely" im kinda bummed-no more recording-for a while-luckily I can still mix as long as i got a computer and headphones. Singer sounds like a girl hehe-your not the only one who said that-I like his voice in the lower registers myself-vocalsAkgc4000-blue tube-mixer...background voc's recorded through a cheap lexicon unit-(mpx-1000) something like that???yeah this isnt too good of a mix...thanks for listening.

adams-thanks alot man-yeah the singer can definetely wail-wish I had a version of us doing the "immigrant song"-he can think on his feat/improvise really well too-a born entertainer hehe-thanks for your time---and glad you liked the river song-i was surprised to see it up here(someone is pissed).
