DirectX plugins in Cubase 4

Does anyone know of a decent wrapper that will allow me to use my DirectX effects in CUBASE 4 Studio?

Freeware would be nice, but cheap would be acceptable.

My DirectX plugins don't work in Cubase 4 (Next time I'll read the complete manual end-to-end before upgrading).

It's why I'm still on SX3...

...well, that and the lack of upgrade-friendly cash...

not really. I cant think of more than a half dozen DXI only plugins

I'm with altitude... only DX plugs I have (had) were the db-audioware offerings, but frankly - with the new Cubase 4 plugs - probably won't use them anymore (although I do think the de-esser is more flexible than the Steinberg offering).

Same here.

That and the fact that many older VSTs are not supported and won't be updated. Too bad, b/c I was really looking fwd to the new EQ section. Anyone have opinions on that? Is it any good? -Rez

i think the EQ's an improvement... as to dxi's the big hub-bubis the guy's with zillions of $ in the waves bundles... waves say's they're rewriting them for the new vst3 standard but boy i betcha they screw them on the upgrade...

I like the new EQ... it's a bit more flexible in that you have different options for the slope on the bandpass filter. More importantly, I think it SOUNDS better, which is the ultimate goal anyways, right? I have found that importing SX3 projects that use the channel EQ beats the shit out of my performance - the meter goes nuts... need to go in and clear the EQ settings before moving on. Because of that, I'm finishing my current project on SX3 and will start the next with 4.

The control room feature is really slick - gives you a s/w console master section... multiple outs, pushbutton speaker selection, Tape ins, etc. etc. etc. Now I just need another 8 channels of AD/DA ;)

The new plugs are nice... compressor, limiter, vintage compressor, not bad at all. And to top it off you get Halion with a bunch of samples... As many before me have said, the new plugs + Halion is worth the price of upgrade. And I haven't even got into the soundframe & media bay features yet....

Sheesh.... I'm sounding like a Steinberg shill.... better go grab a beer and relax a bit

Hey RezN8.... what VST's are you talking about that are discontinued/not supported?

Sorry vault- I'm not quite sure. I read in the Cubase knowledge base that anything written for VST2.4 will work, but anything before needs to be rewritten/updated. I called a friend of mine who is a Cubase nut and he said many of his earliest plug-ins aren't supported.

I know there were some early vsts that I had problems with when I upgraded to SX from VST 5, but I switched to newer plugs and never looked back. I did have issues with PSP's EasyVerb when I upgraded to Cubase 4, but the PSP guys had me a new DLL within a day or two and now it works like a champ (very nice 'verb plug by the way...)
