DirectX causing trouble

Since I tried installing the cd-burner voor CEP2, the trouble began;

If I keep the file Directx.xfm in the cep2-folder, the program (and the whole computer) crashed when 'scanning effects'.

When trying to open CE2k, this one also crashes when looking for 'DirectX transform' in the splash screen.

Head over to Cubase. Doesn't even start-up. Crashes.

Let's try Logic. Same story.

Some cheesy audio-editor works, but crashes when I command it to scan.. DirectX plugins...

I have un- and installed everything, tried DirectX 8.1 and 9, but no difference.
Even downloaded the newest driver for my Terratec ews88mt.

The strange thing is that before I downloaded the burning-plugin, there was no trouble at all.

That's a tough one man. I can't really tell you what's wrong, but if you use restore points, you could possibly reverse the damage done. Maybe even try again after restoring.

Well if you use Xp, its real simple (unless you had turned it off for some reason). XP will automaitcally create System Restore Points for you (usually before changes). If you have XP (not sure about Win2000), look in your Systems Tools for a utility called System Restore. It can reverse your system back to a previous state, from a date (restore point) you choose. If all else fails, you might want to try it.

Sometimes stuff just goes wrong like that. I would uninstall cool edit and all the plugins then reinstall cool edit without the problematic plugin. Either learn to live without it or go to a computer software forum and try for as long as it takes to get it ironed out. The code for that plugin is not compatible with some other code for some other hardware or plugin. You may have luck finding the other conflicting code by trial and error. Then you could decide which is more important.

Chances are it is another DX plugin that is having a problem with with the burning thingie.
