Would I be better off adding a DI box in my signal chain for my home setup?

I get all my sounds in the box through VST or Apps when I'm not recording, and the results are OK, but I am not sure if I am missing something by not using a DI box.

Right now I'm going Guitar>Axess BS2 Buffer>IK Multimedia Axe IO>Cubase 10 Pro.

I don't think a DI is going to make much of a difference in your case. If that buffer has a sufficiently high impedance, that pretty much covers the main benefit of a DI. The other benefit of a DI would be to drive the signal down a long XLR cable to a mic input.
