ok, i am in desperate need of some good advice, reviews, opinions, whatever you got! do to my needing to be able to be somewhat mobile for the military, and not being able to go nuts with a freakin JSX and piss my neighbors off, i do direct recording, and am quite happy with it and my pretty good setup for recording. but i am wanting to change preamps and have narrowed it down to boss gt pro and digitech gsp1101. i keep reading great things about both, and a few dislikes about both. i love effects as much as the next person, but i want a great tone! something i can record with. i dont use tons of effects... well, i pretty much use my boss ds-1, ibanez tubescreamer, digitech whammy, cry baby... and i have a few effects, vsts i can use within sonar for time based effects or whatever else, or use the pod xt if i must. i play alot of lead type stuff (vai, satch, e.j., etc...) so that is sort of the tone i aim for. no metal... i have all the gear and software i need to create and master some decent stuff, but i really just want to get something to hopefully better my tone... time for the podxt to go! i would greatly appreciate anyones help... i was about to just buy the gt pro until i accidentally ran upon gsp1101. thanx much!-dave oh... and yes, ive been playing for a long time, i know nothing on the market compares to the awesomeness of pure tube tone! im looking for a digital route for right now though... i do miss the boogie, marshall, and fender though... :(
my gear quicky:custom built dell laptop, sonar 7 studio ed, focusrite le interface, studio monitors, podxt, yamaha motif rack, addictive drums (and other drums software), a decent variety of effect/instrument/soft synth plugins/vst's. boss ds-1, ibanez tubescreamer, digitech whammy, crybaby, and of course fender, ibanez, bass gtr, and elec violin. (oh, and the zoom mrs-8 ive kept purely for the patches for my bass gtr)
