Guys, quick question:

I am now using an electric guitar plugged into an amplifier plugged into my mixer (Spirit M12) via a unbalanced cables. If I buy a DI Box for the guitar, should it go between the amplifier and the mixer, or does it replace the amplifier altogether?

This:

Guitar ---- DI Box ==== Mixer

Or This:

Guitar ---- Amp --- DI Box ==== Mixer

(- balanced, = unbalanced)

I don't really need the mixer (like, for distortion or any othe reffect), but is it recommended to use it? Or should I really be mic'ing the amplifier?

Confused,

chewy

Oh and also, is the Behringer DI Box an OK piece of equipment?

I think we need a little more info. What type of sound are you looking for? Are you recording into a computer? The DI box just brings your guitar to LINE LEVEL for imput into mixer or soundcard. I would try going

Guitar-DI Box-Mixer or Soundcard first. Then experiment from there.

1 more question, does your amp have a LINE OUT jack?

Details...

I'm recording into a PC with an MAudio Delta 1010 and SONAR XL. I want a clean, even acoustic guitar sound. My amp has a Signal Out A and B and an Effects Send and Receive.

Thanks!

I would go Guitar=DI Box=Soundcard and dont use the cab emulation on the DI Box. That should give you the cleanest/un-colored tone. But what do I know, experiment with different setups until you find a tone you can live with. Check out the modest equipment I use and links to tunes at.....
