Hmm... I can't make up my mind.

  • a great PC with a digi 002 rack & pro tools & an ADAT interface

Which should I get?

a great PC with two 1010LTs, Cubase and a decent studio mixer

the digi002 ofcourse. firewire... preamps effects... but are those about the same price?
 
Neck and neck so far.

I've looked into the price and I think with a proper mixer with two sweepable mid EQs and grouping I am looking at roughly the same price as a digi002 rack set up.

So I guess the question is which is more powerful, stable etc.

I'm leaning towards pro tools.
 
Delta 1010LT and Cubase now in the lead. Why do you guys think the 1010LT is a better idea than a digidesign rack?
 
A PCI interface such as the Delta 1010LT is 10 times faster than a Firewire interface.http://www.mobl.com/expansion/pci/comparison/comp_speed.html
A decent studio mixer can interface with any hardware so when you upgrade you are good to go. With the Delta you can use any software that you want.
Good luck upgrading Pro Tools without spending a fortune.
Pro tools software is not any better than most other mainstream recording software.

delta sound card.
rane preamps. or dmp3.
magix music studio .
and a good song.....

The upgrade of Pro Tools LE 5.x to 6.4 costs 75 bucks right now. Don't think I'll be digging into my fortune just yet... ;) Digidesign also gives the opportunity for Digi hardware users to upgrade their hardware at a discount price to get the newer ones. Haven't heard of anyone else doing that.

Okay...we're ending this thread right now. NO MORE PRO TOOLS FIGHTS....can't we all just get along? :D :cool:
