I have a gnx2 but i've never hooked it up to my computer.I went to the digitech website and seen on the forums there that a lot of folks had trouble with their saved settings getting wiped out when they tried to download stuff from the site.Maybe it was just gnx2 specific.It was a few ago and has probably been resolved by now.The gnx3 has the built in 8 track right?You may be able to send your data to your computer by the spdif jack or the midi out.
According to my manual if using the spdif you connect your spdif output to the spdif input of your recording device.Since your using your computer you'll probably need some kind of adapter to plug into your soundcard.
If you have the GenEdit Editor/librarian software you need to connect your computer's midi output to the gnx midi input and the gnx midi output to the computer's midi input.Then after hooking everything up you need to stick the disc into your computer and follow the install intructions.
Also if using the spdif you'll have to adjust your digital output level found in the utility mode to avoid clipping.
My gnx2 has the dry track feature also found in the utility mode which allows you to record an processed signal.Using dry track 1 allows the pickup modeling up to the noise gate but bypasses modulation,delay and reverb.Dry track 2 allows a completely dry signal tapped off the input jack.You can then take the unprocessed signal and feed it back into the input for reamping through different amp models
