Sample 2 is the real Mesa. Wow, they don't sound anything alike.

well im not an audio engineer but i think you need a good preamp, to add some warmth and get the mic closer. I just bought this http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Studio-Projects-VTB1-Tube-Blend-Mic-Preamp?sku=180360
It arrives tomorrow. Im also using a Analog to digital interface. Ill tell you how good it works

the stock preamps the firepod comes with arent that great. No interface will have GREAT preamps. I have the Lexicon Lambda http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Lexicon-Lambda-USB-Audio-Interface?sku=245506
Son of a bitch doesnt even have enough gain for my sm57 thats why i bought that preamp.
But the firepod is a really good interface if you actually meed all those inputs

oh alright..i have art tube preamp but the damn thing stoped working..i dunno i heard they suck too..lately ive been recording guitar direct..so today i thought i'd give it a try with the real thing..well the pre has to wait til i get paid again..i just orderd a Variax lol

haha man your a line6 fan. I hate line6, theyre digital sound cant compare to the nice warm sound of tubes. And the variax has no pick ups! . Can you cancel that order???

Just get the mic away from the center of the cone. That's the really harsh spot. It usually sounds a little better about two inches over, but check all around the speaker to find the sweetspot. Don't listen to myhat, he even admitted he wasn't an audio engineer.
