digital to analog mix

I have been on this site many times but I have never posted so, here it goes.

Next week I'm going to purchase a Pro Tools HD Accel system(upgrading from my Cubase sytem). I'm also getting some outboard gear. Here is a list.

Universal Audio 1176
GML 8200
Manley VOXBOX

My question is how do I monitor my mix when I'm mixing OTB. Futher more what would be the best medium to mix down too(ADAT, DAT, or something else).

If you have the I/O you can just mix back into pro tools. Just set up a new track and record what comes out of your board.

Curious why you picked it over the Massive Passive?

Curious why you picked it (GML 8200) over the Massive Passive?

EveAnna Manley once asked me that exact question (I also turned down the MP in favor of the GML). With a name like MASSIVE Mastering, people tend to think that there should be a MassPass in the house...

I am thinking about that MiniMassive, though...

For mastering I understand getting the GML over the MP. Way more transparent and precise.

I look at the MP as a great mixing or tracking EQ. Gets that fat sound. Sometimes you have to trim that fat to get a good master though.
