so im recording through pro tools 9 MP, and just playing my guitar straight into it (which is connected to my mac).. anyway, whenever i play a recording back, the guitars dont sound as powerful as an analog recorded amp. i just dont record through my amp cuz i dont have all the effects pedals i want nor a good metronome. and also whenever i have 5+ tracks balanced out, it doesnt sound very loud compared to my itunes music, and if i turn it up any more itll begin to clip, and i dont want that either.. basically how can i mix more properly??

You need to read more.

Bringing mixes louder is done in mastering phase.
Guitars don't sound as powerful just because you listen to the pure, raw guitar signal (unless you have something like amplitube).

You can't just ask "How to mix properly". Find the answer yourself.

btw, compressor is a great tool ;)

i guess i dont have the right amp plugins, but i am reading, i just needed a little clarity. im still learning how to use the compressor as well. but i guess i should wait to balance the levels, im just impatient lol, thanks though
