I need your help.Im looking to buy a digital recorder, but I can't figure out which to buy. It's out of the Fostex Vf-16,Roland Vs-890,and the Korg D-16 .Out of the three I like the Vs-890 the best,It has the most features. But it only has 8-tracks.My spending limit is $1600. I've talked to a man a my local music store and he told me to go with the Vf-16.But he seem to be more interested in when I was buying, more than what I was buying .I know the Vs-890 has Mastering and mic, speaker and guitar modeling. Would any of the others be able to do that.I have a friend with a 1680 and I love it.It's just out of my price range and it dosen't have effects. Please give me some info.Thanx.

The 890 is the only one of the three that can fully record in 24 bit. The D16 has the option, but 4 at a time record and 8 playback. I just recently purchased the D16, and the only reason I didn't get the 890 was it was a bit more expensive, and the roland burner is astronomically pricey. The D16 has quite a list of burners available. The D16 does also have mic/amp modelers and the like. I'm not sure on the VF-16....I know that has 16 individual tracks, while the D16 has 4 stereo. That's about what I can tell you. Good luck.

spend a little more!

Dude,

I got the Akai DPS16 for $1,900 bucks out the door. Has effects, 24bit recording and 16 tracks. Iva had mine for about 4 months now and no problems! and it sounds really good. If I were you i would spend the extra cash and go for something like this.

Cause before you know it, 8 tracks is just not enough. maybe 16 isnt either. but you can mix and master on the thing. Its really cool.
