Besides the MR8-HD, are there any other digital multitrackers out there that can do 4 track simultaneous recording for under 500 dollars? Does anyone know of any flash memory digital recorders that can do 4 track recording? I don't need any effects or bells and whistles. Just something that can record at least 4 inputs at once so that I can transfer to the computer for editing.

I tried out the MR8-HD but it has problems with overtone buzzing when recording with an AKG C414b. I've had this problem with two different MR8-HD's when recording acoustic guitar. My older MR8 doesn't have this problem with the C414b and I thought the MR8-HD would be the logical upgrade for recording more than 2 inputs, but I guess not.

The AW16G seems to have a good reputation but that would be a big price jump and probably more machine than I need for solo acoustic guitar.

Thanks!

I have a Tascam 788 that I bought after it was discontinued. You can find them used for a couple hundred. You'll have to use an external mic pre, but it will record in 24 bit and up to 6 tracks at once. It doesn't have a CD burner in it so you'll have to use an external burner.

perfect

The Tascam 788 looks like it could work for me. They seem to be going fairly cheap on ebay too. Thanks for the info!

Look at the Boss BR-1600; it's a great, easy-to-use machine. You can record 4 inputs at once....
