Pros....
1. They sound darn good!
2. Because they are discontinued, they are usually very cheap.
3. They are ergonomically pleasing.
4. They are almost intuitive to use.
5. The display is nice (I like it anyway).
6. With interface cards, its expandable with AES, ADAT,
TDIF and Analog inputs/outputs.
7. They are VERY well built, they survive road use.
8. They have PC-based animation software.
9. Four can be cascaded (total of 128 inputs!)
10. It supports stereo to 5.1 surround mixing (and everything
in between).
Cons....
1. They are discontinued, thus not supported.
2. They are discontinued, thus difficult to find interface cards.
3. The automation software sucks big time.
4. Automating four mixers cascaded requires FOUR PC's.
5. The automation software generally does not work under XP.
6. Updating the code to 1.15 can be tricky. Some people
succeed some people suffer terribly when doing this.
I liked them very much, I had four cascaded together. I sold three to a friend of mine because the automation software was a BIG sore point for me. I have one left which I use occasionally, but I'll probably have to sell it at some point to make room for something thats as scalable and flexible as I need.
Sad to admit I'm seriously considering Pro-tools. Gasp!
