This is as great site! I am having trouble finding out how to upgrade/replace my current setup. I will mainly be recording drums (rock), and I currently can only record one track at a time. I want to be able to record at least 4 tracks at a time. Here is what I have now:
Behringer Xenyx 1202FX
Behringer UCA222 USB interface (1.0)
Using Audacity software
Just so you'll know, these items below will not be changed for now:
Samson Media One 3a monitors
Sennheiser HD280 Headphones
Audix D6 Kick mic
SM57
2 - Behringer c-2 SDC's as overheads
What I really need is something to record 4 tracks at a time, price range about $400, hopefully including software unless I can use Audacity. I want to have more control over the EQ, etc. of each of the 4 mics, and not have to EQ the whole drum kit the same, like I have to do now. I really like having a physical mixer with phantom power, but will need either USB2.0 or firewire for speed.
EDIT: It does not have to be a mixer type. I have been checking out some of the Tascam interfaces, namely the US-1641 and US-1800, which I understand are essentially the same except the 1800 doesn't have an internal power supply. Any thoughts?
Thank you for your time.
