The Round Mound of Sound
Hello folks,
Recently moved my control room. Since then, I've developed a problem only when recording to the computer. Recording to the adats works fine. If I send a buss to the pc, I end up with gritty sounding, almost distorted tracks. If I normalize the track, it's a bus accident (uh, really nasty). I'm using a mackie 8-buss going to 2 adats & an Alesis AI-3 converter to the sound card. Logic Audio Gold with the Yamaha DSP Factory using C-Console as a control for the card. Everything USED to work great before the move. I've checked & rechecked all my connections. I THINK I have my wordclock set properly. I turn on the converter last. (A suggestion from Alesis).
If I leave the buss fader down & record a track I get "white noise" when normalized, If I have the fader up, I get white noise & god knows what else. I noticed that if I unplug one of the lightpipe connections while everything is on, I get a similar white noise. Anybody got any suggestions?
Thanks,
mam
