Digidesign 888

Ok, so if i could pick one up cheap enough do you think it would be worth it and it would definately work with other programs ie cubase or similiar but i am to expect problems.
What sort of problems do you know of ?
Also, what PCi card do you need ?
Cheers

no, I recommend not buying one. They are antiquated and no longer supported by Digidesign. And like I said they will most likely have problems running on newer systems (ie. recent Macs and XP SP2 or Vista)

each TDM system requires a Mix Core cord to get it to run. Then you add process cards to get more processing power. A single Mix Core card runs the system and starts up Pro Tools...but further than that it can't handle much processing power. You have to realize these systems are about 10 years old.

I have never used one with Cubase so I cannot say it will work flawlessly...but I know it has problems with other programs.
You would benefit more from saving the money up and buying something brand new.

ESPECIALLY if you plan on not even using it with Pro Tools.
If you wanted an older version of PT TDM for cheap, I might say go for it, but if you just want to use it with Cubase then no.
