A couple nights ago, I was playing back some tracks from my Roland VS1824CD via S/PDIF into my Digi002 (the mixer, not the rack version). I have done this many times before with no problem. Right in the middle of the song, the Digi002 quits, and comes up with fault code- Validating...Validating..., etc. Did that for 10 minutes, so I shut it down, disconnected the Roland and attempted to power it up. Nothing comes on except the "Mute" button for the monitor section, which does nothing if you push it. It was not connected to the computer at the time, and I was not running Pro Tools, it was in standalone mode. I'm thinking it will need to go back to Digidesign, but I thought I'd check to see if any users have ever seen this behavior or if anyone has any troubleshooting strategies. Bennychoi, any clues?-Richie

Richie--

There is a well known power harness defect on the Digi 002. I'm not aware of any other defects.

I have some advice, dont use protools. :)

Plenty of dare I say better, more stable, intuitive solutions that arent propreitary in nature. F*&k digidesign..

PT is going down down down

but seriously...my brother in laws 002 did this exact same thing during playback...it was the powering harness.

Thanks, Ozraves- the DUC people are saying the same thing. BigRay- your opinion is not useful to me- it's the DAW I use.-Richie

I believe he asked for troubleshooting strategies, not ideas of a new interface.

It seems that fixing a power harness isn't too complicated, so just get them to send you one.

Hey dickhead,
but seriously...my brother in laws 002 did this exact same thing during playback...it was the powering harness.

I suggested what it was to you...

he suggested what he problem might be but he also gave some advice that might help him in the long run. i dont think anyone should be pissed at him for throwing in some extra information

Its all good tbone. Let em stay on the PT train. It is going to derail sooner or later. The writing is on the wall.
