Digi-tech RP200 A

I got one last year.

I think it's a nice unit, but you have to take the time to dial in your own custom user settings. What sounds good in the headphones (or for direct-in recording) may not sound as good through an amp at club-level volume. The presets are very good, but a few of them are silly or basically unusable.... as you would expect with any pedal that has 40 presets. The RP-200A is a very functional and capable multi-effects pedal, but you have to be patient enough to set it up properly. It's quicker and easier to set up a POD because all the dials are laid out in front of you. With the RP-200A you have to scroll through each seperate effect one at a time to make an adjustment. But the HUGE advantage of the RP-200A is that once you have the settings you want, they're available immediately with a quick tap of the foot. The wah/volume/expression pedal is also a big plus. I haven't used my RP-200A for recording, but I've used it live while playing at clubs. It does well, but it did fail me one time for a short 2 minutes during the middle of a song. It just kind of "locked up" while I was switching tones. But I was tapping it kind of fast and hard at the time and it hasn't failed since. I've recorded other guys who have used the RP-200A and it sounded really good in the type of music they played (metal and hard rock). The choruses and delays are first rate and it's nice to be able to change the cabinet of the amps you're trying to model.

Do I recommend it?

Yes.

Yes.

come over to my place and show my rythym guy how to set it up ...lol...he has found the most obnoxious settings on the thing and has claimed it for his tone ...whatever settings he uses for clean are very shrill and no one can tell him any different ...i played around with it and found some things i liked, but i like individual pedals where you're not locked into a group of settings ...i did like some of the overdrives :D

I have an RP-300. Whci his very similar to the RP-200A.
The only difference (other than price) between the RP-200A and RP-200...
Is the Artist presets. Overall I liked the RP... But the distortion is lacking...

ok, i play Slayer/Pantera style metal do you have any advice, on presets, this is my first digitech.

the best example i could give is Pantera on The Far Beyond Driven album.

Had one...

a few years ago but I didn't have the patience for it, plus the pedal didn't operate very smoothly (maybe I could have lubed it??). Recently I saw the RP50 and needed something to record with my Tascam 424mkii so I bought it. I bought it for recording, but have gone on to using it live and that works out ok, except a slight second of silence when switching between settings. I try to line up the settings I need for each song or lead and that has worked okay. I feel the RP50 has what I need so why go for the more expensive RP200 IMHO. Anyways for settings, go to the digitech site and look for the sound community. Type in RP200 and it will bring up settings for that model that people submitting.

I used to have an RP200. I upgraded to the RPx400 and my bassist now uses the 200. I loved it...he loves it...what can i say? The expression pedal is a huge bonus. Use some creativity and you can get some really cool sounds.

Thanks alot for the advice guys, im going to try some of those presets on, the Sound Community hopefully they will work :)
